Bible translators knew that for their Bibles to be purchased they would need to appeal to their readers. They also knew, that if they used God's Divine Name Jehovah, then people would not purchase their Version and thus they would lose money. God's name Jehovah/Yahowah appears in the original hebrew text about 7000 times, but the NIV fails to mention it even once. When asked about this, Edwin H. Palmer, Th.D., Executive Secretary for the NIV's committee wrote : "Here is why we did not : You are right - that Jehovah is a distinctive name for God and ideally we should have used it. But we put 2 1/4 million dollars into this translation and a sure way of throwing that down the drain is to translate, for example, Psalm 23 as, 'Yahweh (Jehovah) is my shepherd.' Immediately, we would have translated for nothing. Nobody would have used it (or purchased it). Oh, maybe you and a handful [of] others. But a Christian has to be also wise and practical. We are the victims of 350 years of the King James tradition. It is far better to get two million to read it- that is how many have bought it to date- and to follow the King James, than to have two thousand buy it and have the correct translation of Yahweh(Jehovah). Turner 4. MAN MADE "TRADITION" It was a tradition of the Jews to avoid using God's name altogether. They stopped all mention of him. No longer using God's Divine Name, they no longer used it in their prayers, even making it a sin to say his name out loud. They considered it "blasphemy" to utter the name of God, jehovah. Many translators admit to following this "Jewish Tradition" and have thus removed Jehovah's name and replaced it with Titles such as "LORD" and "GOD" - all in capitals - to show that they have removed God's name in those places. Jesus condemned the man-made tradition of the Jews. Following their lead in this - would be directly against Jesus' Teachings on this issue. " (Matthew 15:3,6)(NIV)-BibleGateway 5. SUPERSTITION During the time when Israel was in slavery to Babylon, she absorbed and adopted many Babylonian customs and ideas. One of these was the "Superstition" against using the name o***od - for fear that bad things would happen to them. As the Babylonians called their Chief God - Marduk by the title "LORD" so as not to offend him, so too - the Jews adopted this idea in reference to Jehovah God. "When the Yisraeli (Israelites) came out of Babylonian captivity, they brought along with them the Babylonian culture, and along with it Babylonian beliefs and superstitions. One of these pagan Babylonian practices or beliefs was called "ineffability." This was the SUPERSTITION against using the name of a deity for fear of something bad happening to them. "JEHOVAH" IS NOT THE HEBREW WAY TO SAY GOD'S NAME Some Bible Translators say that they have removed God's name from the Bible - because Jehovah is not the proper way to say God's name in Hebrew. This reasoning is merely an excuse and not a reason at all. For if this reason was valid, then we would also have to remove Jesus name from the Bible, since the name "Jesus" is not the way that it was written or spoken in Hebrew either. Many Hebrew names are written in the Bible - which are not as they were in Hebrew and yet we do not remove them. Therefore this reasoning is truly invalid. Examples of Jewish names in the Bible which are translated into English - much differently than their original Hebrew couterparts - are : Jesus, Jeremiah, Jonah, Joel, Jerusalem, Joshua, etc. "... the Committee... is, omitting the name of God (because) the word 'Jehovah' does not accurately represent any form of the Name ever used in Hebrew..." - The Preface of the Revised Standard Version Thus, the Hebrew "ye-ru-sha-LA-yim" became "Jerusalem"; "ye-ri-HO" became Jericho; and "yar-DEN" become "Jordan". Hebrew personal names such as "yo-NA" became "Jonah", "yi-SHAI" became "Jesse" and "ye-SHU-a" became "Jesus". Likewise "YHWH, Yahweh, or Yehowah" became "Jehovah" in english. 7. GOD DOESN'T NEED A NAME God does not need to be distinguished from other gods. Some translators have made this statement. Who are we to say that God doesn't need a name ? God deemed it necessary to name all the stars in the heavens, and to place his name upon people that he liked, and upon places that were important to him. One of the most ancient fragments, the papyrus codex designated Chester Beatty Papyrus No. 2 P46, is dated prior to AD 200 and contains nine of the apostle Paul's letters. In the Chester Beatty papyri, we find ?S and sometimes TS with a horizontal bar above them where the tetragrammaton occurs in the Hebrew text. These are abbreviations for kurios ( "lord") and theos (?e?? "god"). Some scholars think that these abbreviations were not part of the autographs and thus were added some time later,[1] concluding that YHWH did indeed occur in the NT.[2] An article by George Howard in the March 1978 issue of Biblical Archaeology Review set forth a theory that YHWH appeared in the New Testament and that "the removal of the Tetragrammaton from the New Testament and its replacement with the surrogates kyrios and theos blurred the original distinction between the Lord God and the Lord Christ."[3] YHWH and the Septuagint The Greek Old Testament that Early Christianity used (as opposed to other Greek Old Testaments) is known as the Septuagint (q.v.). Christ and the Apostles quoted extensively from it.[4] In the Middle Ages when St. Jerome, a Roman Catholic classicist, began his translation of the Old Testament into Latin, he switched from using the ancient Septuagint as his source to the then new Masoretic texts.[5] Jerome was the first to translate from a Masoretic Old Testament and brought YHWH for the first time into texts officially adopted by the Western Church. This use of the Masoretic did not affect the Eastern Churches and the bulk of the late Roman Empire's population, who spoke Greek. Jesus quoted numerous times from the Old Testament, including his replies to the tempter: "Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God" (Matt. 4:7, KJV). Here as elsewhere, he quotes from the Greek Septuagint.[6][7] The New Testament overwhelmingly quotes the ancient Septuagint, not Medieval Masoretic versions.[8] Complete copies of the Septuagint do not contain the word YHWH;[9] however, older fragments do contain YHWH. [10] It is also noteworthy that in the P. Ryl. 458 (perhaps the oldest extant Septuagint manuscript) there are blank spaces, leading some scholars to believe that the tetragrammaton must have been written where these breaks or blank spaces are.[11] In addition to older fragments containing YHWH, a transliterated Hebrew word, "Hallelujah" includes the abbreviation of the Divine Name and appears four times in the 19th chapter of the Book of Revelation. In addition, names such as Jesus mean "YHWH is Salvation"; John, "YHWH has been gracious".[12] appear frequently in the New Testament. Professor George Howard, of the University of Georgia, theorizes: "When the Septuagint which the New Testament church used and quoted contained the Hebrew form of the divine name, the New Testament writers no doubt included the Tetragrammaton in their quotations."[13] Thus some contemporary publishers of modern versions of the New Testament insert the word "Jehovah" in place of the Greek manuscript wording. In one of these (the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, published by the Jehovah's Witnesses), the name "Jehovah" is inserted 237 times.[14] They believe that when the NT writers quoted the Greek Septuagint or quoted the Hebrew text, where the Tetragrammaton appeared, they would have been obliged to include the Tetragrammaton. In this regard, some have charged the New World Translation Committee (NWTC) with not be consistent.[15] However, Rolf Furuli stated that there never was a rule to always use "Jehovah" since the NWTC clearly indicates other factors must be consider too. [16] A literal translation of ?e?? would be "God", and of , "Lord". Other Greek Old Testaments In regard to the Septuagint, some rudimentary mistakes are made by confusing it with several other Greek versions of the Old Testament. Inherent in such error is the assumption that all Greek versions of the Old Testament were the Septuagint. This is not the case. Origen categorized at least seven different Greek versions of varying quality: the versions of Aquila, Theodotion, Symmachus, and lesser versions that he labeled the Quinta, Sexta and Septima. Origen compiled his Hexapla (and Tetrapla) as a reference for Christians debating the Old Testament with ancient Jews.[17] The Hexapla is almost completely lost, and these other versions exist only in small fragments, mostly from the Hexapla. A few more of these fragments have also been discovered in Qumran, and two of these fragments from unidentified Greek versions have YHWH in Semitic script written or inserted afterwards. The Qumran manuscripts were those kept by a small sect of Jewish separatists known as the Essenes. Since the church of New Testament times as well as mainstream Jews used the Septuagint, and since it is well established that the New Testament quotes the Septuagint extensively (and apparently exclusively), the other texts may not be relevant to the text of the New Testament, and texts used by the Essenes are less so. The word "Jews" is associated with the OT and the word "Christians" with the NT. It may not have been your intention, but the contrast you make between the two groups could lead the reader to conclude there is evidence that, at the time the NT was written the Hebrew letters of the tetragrammaton was no longer understood, and therefore the Christian NT writers used the substitute KURIOS. But such evidence is lacking! For the designations Jews/Christians to be meaningful to the reader, it is necessary to supply dates. As Greg has pointed out, all LXX manuscripts until 50 CE contained the tetragrammaton in some form; the form IAW which is found, even shows that it was pronunciated, because it is a phonetic transcription. (The evidence for a substitution at Qumran is not unambiguous. For instance, 4Q408, which is dated to Hasmonean times (from the middle of the second century BCE), has the tetragrammaton in Aramaic script several times. Discoveries in the Judean Desert XXXVI, Comran Cave IV XXVI,2000, Oxford: Clarendon Press. Other older manuscripts use EL as a substitute for YHWH) 2) The NT writers spoke Hebrew or Aramaic where ADONAI and MARE/MARI (I do not use standard transcription which can be misunderstood on a Greek list) are the words that naturally would be translated by the Greek KURIOS. But neither ADONAI nor MARE/MARI are used as substitutes for YHWH at Qumran, but the substitute is EL. If the NT writers used KURIOS as a substitute for YHWH, they must have invented this practice themselves, because there is no evidence for a Hebrew or Aramaic antecedent, but why should they? NB, The Creator is called both YHWH and ADONAI in the Hebrew Bible, but ADONAI is not a *substitute* for YHWH. The word ADONAI is used only 83 times in non-biblical manuscripts at Qumran while EL is used 677 times. In the manuscript mentioned above, both ADONAI and YHWH are used for the Creator without one being a substitute for the other. 3) There is quite a lot of circumstansial evidence suggesting that the tetragrammaton occurred in the original NT. Elswhere I have argued for this at length, but I will supply one piece of evidence that the KURIOS in NT manuscripts after 150 CE, has different Hebrew antecedents. Compare John 21;7 "It is the Lord (KURIOS)." with Luke 1:46 "My soul magnifies the Lord (KURIOS). Which words did John and Mary use? In no case could John have used ADONAI, because that was a title (but not a substitute) for YHWH. But he evidently used another word. If the custom not to pronounce YHWH already was introduced, (which is completely without evidence), and Mary followed it, she could have used EL (as at Qumran) or ADONAI (although evidence for it being a substitute for YHWH is lacking). In any case John and Mary used two different words which manuscripts from 150 CE and younger translate as KURIOS. Because there are other Greek words in the semantic domain "Lord", the use of just one (KURIOS) for two different Hebrew words, could lead us to ask about the originality of KURIOS in the NT, because of all the confusion this creates. There is in fact circumstansial evidence suggesting the KURIOS in the NT in many instances is a *later* substitute for YHWH, while a form of YHWH occurred in the original manuscripts. As to the Christian origin of KURIOS as a substitute for YHWH, let me add that evidence in Syrohexapla and other Syriac manuscrips suggest that the tetragrammaton originally occurred in Syriac translations, and these manuscripts were made by Christians. Other than its emphasis on the specific name of the Father and the Son, their other basic beliefs appear to be consistent with most of the Churches of God. This article will quote some of WAY's statements (all taken from its website on 2/22/01) and then provide my comments, in italics, after them. "Purpose Statement To help all who truly want to: A. "Our beliefs are that there is only one Creator and his name is YHWH...Why use the name "YHWH" as oppose to the more commonly used name "GOD"? Would you believe that the name "GOD" is of pagan origin? As shocking as that statement is it is true and I challenge you to go down to your local library and do some research. Ask to see the Dictionary of Etymology the origins of American English words. Look up the word "GOD". You will see that the word "GOD" is not of English origin but comes from the Germanic tribe. Before the Germanic tribe converted to christianity they used this name for their pagan deity. How many times have we seen compromises made to bring non-believers into christianity?" (WAY's home page). The term 'Lord' is used extensively in the New Testament. Its origins may be Babylonian. God apparently felt it was fine to inspire the writers of the New Testament to use that and other non-Hebrew names for deity. It should also be noted that the term 'christianity' has Greek as its origin. "The appropriate name of the supreme Creator and sustainer of the entire universe is YHWH (Pronounced "YAH-WAY"). The appropriate name of our Savior the Messiah is Yahshua. The scriptures reveal to us the importance of our Creator's name." (WAY home page). Sacred name groups always claim to know exactly how to pronounce the four Hebrew letters (which in English are approximated as YHWH) which have no vowels. These groups often do not agree with each other. The other group I looked into years ago said the proper pronounciation was Yah-vay. WAY is different from most in that it does not agree within itself on either name. But this is just a lie spread by the true God (YHWH) of Abraham, Isaac, and Ishmael's, creator of all there is, arch enemy, Satan the Devil, per 2 Corinthians 4:4, "in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn upon them." This scripture causes confusion for some who are attempting to justify false doctrine of various creeds. They do not fully comprehend that Alpha is the first letter of the Koine Greek alphabet and that Omega is the last letter of the Koine Greek alphabet and take this to be a title for Jesus (Yeshua) which the verse in context clearly shows that it is not. In reality, the person referring to himself as the first and the last, the Alpha and Omega, in Revelation 21:6 is the true God (YHWH) of Abraham, Isaac, and Ishmael, creator of all there is, the Father, of Jesus (Yeshua). How so? Verse 7 clearly says, "He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son." (Authorized King James Bible; AV); and Revelation 21:3-5 clearly show that the true God (YHWH) of Abraham, Isaac, and Ishmael, creator of all there is, is being referred to as follows, "And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. The fact of who is being spoken of in Verse 6 is highlighted by what Jesus (Yeshua) said at Matthew 4:9-10, "And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." (AV), and Jesus (Yeshua) testifies to the fact that he was sent by his Father, the true God (YHWH) of Abraham, Isaac, and Ishmael, creator of all there is, at John 17:17-21, "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me." (AV). Clearly showing that he was sent by his Father and spoke his words to the people. This fact being made certain at Hebrews 11:3, "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." (AV); and Ephesians 6:17, "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:" (AV). It is, therefore, omitted in many modern translations. While many commentators apply this title both to God and to Christ, a more careful examination of its use restricts its application to Jehovah God. (Re 22:8) Thus Revelation 1:8 (RS) says: "'I am the Alpha and the Omega,' says the Lord God ["Jehovah God," NW], who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty." Why is Jesus (Yeshua) called the only begotten Son of God (YHWH) when in reality there are many sons of God (YHWH)? John 1:14 states, "And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth." (ASV); And at John 3:16-18, " For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God sent not the Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through him. 18 He that believeth on him is not judged: he that believeth not hath been judged already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God." (ASV); And at 1 John 4:9, "Herein was the love of God manifested in us, that God hath sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through him." (ASV); now this does not mean that the other created spirit beings were not also God's (YHWH's) sons, as they are also called sons as affirmed at Genesis 6:2, "that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all that they chose." (ASV); And at job 1:6, "Now it came to pass on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovah, that Satan also came among them" (ASV); And at Job 38:4-7, "Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding. 5 Who determined the measures thereof, if thou knowest? Or who stretched the line upon it? 6 Whereupon were the foundations thereof fastened? Or who laid the corner-stone thereof, 7 When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?" So what makes Jesus (Yeshua) unique? He is unique by virtue of his being the only direct creation by Almighty God (YHWH), thus making him different from all others of God's (YHWH's) sons, allof whom were created or begotten by god (YHWH) through that firstborn Son, Jesus (Yeshua). Therefore, Jesus was God's (YHWH) 'only-begotten Son' in a very special sense just as Isaac was Abraham's 'only-begotten son' in a special sense even though he already had a son, Ishamel, but not by his wife Sarah as testified to at Hebrews 11:17, "By faith Abraham, being tried, offered up Isaac: yea, he that had gladly received the promises was offering up his only begotten [son];" (ASV); And at Genesis 16:15, "And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called the name of his son, whom Hagar bare, Ishmael." (ASV). Of course some will say begotten does not mean create, but they never quantify what it means. They have to consider the facts which are (1) the Bible says at Revelation 3:14, "And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God:" (ASV); (2) the meaning of the word create which is "To cause to come into existence; originate" [Funk & Wagnalls Standard College Dictionary, ISBN #s 0-308-10309-2 and 0-308-10310-6, and most other standard English dictionaries]; (3) That humans create by means of copulation as did Abraham in the creation or begetting of his son, Isaac, as shown in Hebrews 11:17 and Genesis 16:15, quoted previously; whereas, the Bible makes no mention of a Mrs. God (YHWH). Therefore, God (YHWH) creates differently, obviously, from man. He always existed as shown at Psalms 90:2, "Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. " (ASV); And at Psalms 93:2, "Thy throne is established of old: Thou art from everlasting." (ASV); and at Job 36:26, "Behold, God is great, and we know him not; The number of his years is unsearchable." (ASV); And at 1 Timothy 1:17, "Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, [be] honor and glory forever and ever. Amen." (ASV). Of course another way of looking at the verb beget is to look at its synonyms and its definition which are (1) To procreate; be the father of. (2) To cause to be; occasion [Funk & Wagnalls Standard College Dictionary, ISBN #s 0-308-10309-2 and 0-308-10310-6, and most other standard English dictionaries]. Now that makes it clear one of its meanings is to cause to be same as for create. If that is not clear enough for some, let's consider the definition of its synonym as given above, procreate which means by definition (1) To engender or beget (offspring), (2) To originate; produce; and at its ethnology from Latin, [- before + creare to create> ] which leaves no doubt that it means to create as does the other synonym, engender which by definition means (1) To cause to exist; give rise to; produce. (2) beget, (3) To come into being; and its ethnology from Latin [- in + genus, generis race] [Funk & Wagnalls Standard College Dictionary, ISBN #s 0-308-10309-2 and 0-308-10310-6, and most other standard English dictionaries]. Of course some critics say that having been created makes Jesus (Yeshua) inferior, but the Bible shows the exact opposite at Philippians 2:1-11, "If there is therefore any exhortation in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender mercies and compassions, 2 make full my joy, that ye be of the same mind, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind; 3 [doing] nothing through faction or through vainglory, but in lowliness of mind each counting other better than himself; 4 not looking each of you to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others. 5 Have this mind in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 who, existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men; 8 and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient [even] unto death, yea, the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore also God highly exalted him, and gave unto him the name which is above every name; 10 that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven and [things] on earth and [things] under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (ASV). Obviously all thinking people should believe the Bible and not accept the opinions of man. Third, With respect to the true God (YHWH) of Abraham, Isaac, and Ishmael's, creator of all there is, force or power which we call his Holy Spirit and many wrongly believe is a third spirit being, we need to look at the word in ancient Hebrew from which it was translated to get an accurate understanding. Now let's consider just what this Spirit is. Now what is this Spirit or Holy Spirit that John the Baptist mentioned at John 1:32, ""And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. 33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the holy Ghost." (AV)? The Holy Spirit is only God's (YHWH's) active force and not even a spirit being or person. This is clearly shown at Pentecost where the Holy Spirit was poured out onto all there, Acts 2:1-4, "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." (AV). This entire scripture bespeaks of a force and not a being as you do not get filled with a being! And this fact is reaffirmed at Acts 4:31, ""And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spoke the word of God with boldness." (AV); And 2 Corinthians 1:21-22, "Now he which established us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; 22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts." (AV), surely a being would not be in our hearts as that is ludicrous, thus this scripture talks of God's (YHWH's) active force; This is clearly shown at Luke 11:13, "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" (AV). Once more, why? Why? Do many say they are coequal and coeternal when clearly they are not and the Holy Ghost is just God's (YHWH's) active force? Only to try to give some resemblance of reality to a myth as we shall later see. An interesting note on the Spirit is that the neuter Greek word for spirit (pneu'ma) is used, the neuter pronoun "it" is properly employed. This fact is conveniently over looked or hidden by most Trinitarian translators as admitted in the "New American Bible Catholic Bible," regarding John 14:17: "The Greek word for 'Spirit' is neuter, and while we use personal pronouns in English ('he,' 'his,' 'him'), most Greek MSS [manuscripts] employ 'it.'" So when the Bible uses masculine personal pronouns in connection with pa·ra'kle·tos at John 16:7, 8, it is conforming to rules of grammar, not expressing a doctrine. And in Ancient Hebrew the word here rendered Holy Ghost, Holy Spirit, or Spirit which is translated from 'ru'ach' meaning "breath; wind; spirit." In Latin, it is spiritus, and in Sanskrit, 'prana' which means both "breath" and "spirit" So it is clear that the Spirit is not a being but is God's (YHWH's) active force which he gives to both his Son, Jesus (Yeshua) and to his followers that he gave to him. This is made even clearer at 1 Corinthians 12:13, "For in one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all made to drink of one Spirit. And Hebrews 2:4 clearly reveals it as from him, "God also bearing witness with them, both by signs and wonders, and by manifold powers, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will." (ASV); And affirmed at 2 Peter 1:21, "For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but men spake from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit." (ASV). Interestingly many ancient manuscripts with respect part of 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, in part read as follows, "Vulgate, Syriac, and Coptic [all important ancient manuscripts] read, "(the Lord God of the) spirits (of the prophets)." The Lord God who with His Spirit inspired their spirits so as to be able to prophesy. There is but one Spirit, but individual prophets, according to the measure given them " Thus it is obvious that the Spirit or Holy Spirit is God's (YHWH's) active force or power which he 'pours' out to his Son, Jesus (Yeshua) and to the faithful followers as necessary to get his will accomplished. GOD'S (YHWH'S) ESSENCE: First, let's consider what essence is through use of Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary [ISBN 0-87779349-2]. Essence = (b) the individual, real, or ultimate nature of a thing esp. as opposed to its existence. Essentially the true God (YHWH) of Abraham, Isaac, and Ishmael, creator of all there is, is the Supreme Being that has always existed - had no beginning - and caused all else that now exist to exist. He is the Alpha and Omega as shown by Revelation 21:5-7 as the Alpha and Omega, "And he that sitteth on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. Let's consider Ephesians 2:1-3, "And you did he make alive, when ye were dead through your trespasses and sins, 2 wherein ye once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the powers of the air, of the spirit that now worketh in the sons of disobedience; 3 among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest:--" (ASV) which shows it is because they walk according to the course of this world which James 4:4 warns against, "Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." (AV). Now should one be surprised by this? No, Trinitarians and other believers in false doctrines have even tried to corrupt the inspired word of the true God (YHWH) of Abraham, Isaac, and Ishmael, creator of all there is, the Bible in violation of Revelation 22:18-19, "I, bear witness, unto every one that heareth the words of the prophecy of this scroll:--If anyone shall lay aught upon them, God, will lay upon him, the plagues which are written in this scroll; 19 And, if anyone shall take away from the words of this prophetic scroll, God, will take away his part,--from the tree of life, and out of the holy city,--from the things written in this scroll." This example is the well known illegitimate addition to the Bible known as the Johanna Comma: 1 John 5:7 and 8 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one (KJV). 1. Some English versions have a shorter rendition of 1 John 5:7 and 8 than the KJV quoted above. The King James Version has words that support the Trinity that most modern versions do not have. How can this be? The reason that there are different translations of this verse is that some Greek texts contain an addition that was not original, and that addition was placed into some English versions, such as the KJV (the words added to some Greek texts are underlined in the quotation above). The note in the NIV Study Bible, which is well known for its ardent belief in the Trinity, says, "The addition is not found in any Greek manuscript or NT translation prior to the 16th century." Most modern versions are translated from Greek texts without the addition. We will quote the NIV: "For there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement." We agree with the textual scholars and conclude from the evidence of the Greek texts that the statement that the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit are "one" was added to the Word of God by men, and thus has no weight of truth. There are many Trinitarian scholars who freely admit that the Greek text from which the KJV is translated was adjusted in this verse to support the Trinity. The Greek scholar A. T. Robertson, author of the unparalleled work, A Grammar of the Greek New Testament in Light of Historical Research, and the multi-volumed Word Pictures in the New Testament, writes: At this point [1 John 5:7] the Latin Vulgate gives the words in the Textus Receptus, found in no Greek MS. save two late cursives (162 in the Vatican Library of the fifteenth century, [No.] 34 of the sixteenth century in Trinity College, Dublin). Jerome did not have it. Erasmus did not have it in his first edition, but rashly offered to insert it if a single Greek MS. had it, and 34 was produced with the insertion, as if made to order. Some Latin scribe caught up Cyprian's exegesis and wrote it on the margin of his text, and so it got into the Vulgate and finally into the Textus Receptus by the stupidity of Erasmus."42 Robertson shows how this addition entered the text. It was a marginal note. Since all texts were hand-copied, when a scribe, copying a text, accidentally left a word or sentence out of his copy, he would place it in the margin in hopes that the next scribe would copy it back into the text. Unfortunately, scribes occasionally did not make the distinction between what a previous scribe had left out of the last copy and wrote in the margin, and marginal notes that another scribe had written in the margin to help him understand the text. Therefore, some marginal notes got copied into the text as Scripture. Usually these additions are easy to spot because the "new" text will differ from all the other texts. However, there are times when people adore their theology more than the God-breathed original, and they fight for the man-made addition as if it were the original words of God. This has been the case with 1 John 5:7 and 8, and we applaud the honesty of the translators of modern versions who have left it out of their translations. The famous textual scholar, F. F. Bruce, does not even mention the addition in his commentary on 1 John (The Epistles of John). The International Critical Commentary does not mention it either. The conservative commentator R. C. H. Lenski, in his 12 volume commentary on the New Testament, only mentions that it is proper to leave the addition out. He writes: "The R. V. [Revised Version] is right in not even noting in the margin the interpolation found in the A.V. [KJV]." Henry Alford, author of the The Greek Testament, a Greek New Testament with extensive critical notes and commentary, writes: ...OMITTED BY ALL GREEK MANUSCRIPTS previous to the beginning of the 16th century; ALL the GREEK FATHERS (even when producing texts in support of the doctrine of the Holy Trinity: as e.g., by [abbreviated names of Church "fathers"] Clem Iren Hipp Dion Ath Did Bas Naz Nys Ephih Caes Chr Procl Andr Damasc (EC Thl Euthym); ALL THE ANCIENT VERSIONS (including the Vulgate (as it came from Jerome, see below) and (though interpolated in the modern editions, the Syriac; AND MANY LATIN FATHERS (viz. Novat Hil Lucif Ambr Faustin Leo Jer Aug Hesych Bede) [Emphasis his].43 2. With the spurious addition gone, it is clear that there is no reference to the Trinity in 1 John 5:7 and 8. The context is speaking of believing that Jesus is the Son of God (v. 5 and 10). There are three that testify that Jesus is the Son of God: the spirit that Jesus received at his baptism, the water of his baptism and the blood that he shed. Scripture says, "We accept man's testimony, but God's testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God which He has given about his Son" (v. 9). This verse is so true! How often people accept man's testimony and believe what men say, but do not believe what God says. We need to accept the testimony of God that He has given about His Son, and agree with the testimony of the spirit, the water and the blood, that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. This 'one' is one in purpose and this is made clear at John 17:9-11, " "I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom You have given Me; for they are Yours; 10 and all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them. 11 "I am no longer in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, that they may be one even as We are. Which not only shows Jesus (Yeshua) and his Father (YHWH) as being one in prupose, but also, all the true Christian followers of his Son (Yeshua).
As previously mentioned, many try and misuse this scripture, John 10:30, to support either a Duality or a Trinity; however, it supports neither and especially not a Trinity as only two individual beings are mentioned in it.
With respect a Trinity, Jay P. Green's, "Classic Bible Dictionary," says, "This is not itself a Biblical term, but was a term coined by Tertullian to refer to the whole concept under one word." [Classic Bible Dictionary," by Jay P. Green, page 483]. Another renown work says, "Respecting the manner in which the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit make one G-d, the Scripture teaches nothing, since the subject is of such a nature as not to admit of its being explained to us." [Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological, and Ecclesiastical Literature," under Trinity, on page 553]. In other words, this false God (YHWH) dishonoring false doctrine of the Trinity is a revealed doctrine of men that is foreign to the scripture (Bible). It is to be outright rejected by all who are true followers of Jesus (Yeshua).
Fourth, Of course, if Jesus (Yeshua) and his Father, Almighty God, were one God or being, then John 5:22 would be null and void, "For neither doth, the Father, judge anyone,--but, all the judging, hath given unto the Son:" (Rotherham Bible of 1902; RB); as would 1 Timothy 2:5, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;" (Authorized King James Bible; AV). How so? One can not be a mediator between two entities and be one of those entities.
CONCLUSION:
Trinitarians try to cover up the short comings of their false the true God (YHWH) of Abraham, Isaac, and Ishmael, creator of all there is, dishonoring creedal doctrine by obfuscation and "throwing smoke" with very involved reasoning and quotes of such men as so called St. Augustine, but the inspired word of the true God (YHWH) of Abraham, Isaac, and Ishmael, creator of all there is, the Bible as just shown keeps it simple and clearly shows this doctrine for what it is, a pagan impossible doctrine in keeping with 2 Corinthians 4:4, "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." Trinitarians try to cover up the short comings of their false the true God (YHWH) of Abraham, Isaac, and Ishmael, creator of all there is, dishonoring creedal doctrine by obfuscation and "throwing smoke" with very involved reasoning and quotes of such men as so called St. Augustine, but the inspired word of the true God (YHWH) of Abraham, Isaac, and Ishmael, creator of all there is, the Bible as just shown keeps it simple and clearly shows this doctrine for what it is, a pagan impossible doctrine in keeping with 2 Corinthians 4:4, "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." (AV). Trinitarians do not believe in the ‘KISS’ principle (keep it simple stupid) since it would prove them stupid if applied to their false creedal doctrine of, "Jesus = God."

PROTESTANT CHURCH ACCEPTED CATHOLIC DOCTRINE, HOOK LINE AND SINKER: The Protestant church movement came out of the reformation on the basis the Roman Catholic was in gross error, but they accepted many of the wrong beliefs, doctrines, and myths of the Catholic church even when they directly went against the Word of God. Some of these were the Trinity, Christmas (the concept that Christ was born on December 25, which he was not), Sunday is the Sabbath (which it is not), etc. But let's deal just with the matter of the Sabbath or the seventh-day and not the other gross errors that the Protestants accepted as gospel from the Roman Catholics. Today almost all Protestant churches celebrate the Sabbath on Sunday as we all know. However, Sunday is NOT the seventh-day of the week, but the first day of the week whose name actually means the Sun's day from ancient Roman pagan practices. Are you aware that the same nonsense unsupported arguments employed against the true Sabbath are also used in an attempt to refute the truth with respect God's (YHWH's) name which is often said as Yahweh in English. Even the Protestant King James Bible at Exodus 20:7 says, "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord in vain;" but neglects to use either of his common names in English or the four letters from Hebrew which represent it, YHWH. This is wrong as are those contentions against the Sabbath being on the seventh-day. Let's consider why the Sabbath was established by Yahweh himself on the seventh-day. This was stated at Genesis 2:2-3, "And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it; because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." (AV); And in the New Testament at Acts 13:42-44 the Sabbath is shown as still in effect, "And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. 43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God. 44 And the next Sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God." (AV). Nowhere does God (YHWH) give man the prerogative to make any day he wants the Sabbath or holy day. However, leaders of an apostate church without any authority from God (YHWH) took it upon themselves to change it at the Council of Nicea in 325 AD from Saturday (the true Sabbath day) to Sunday (the Day of the Sun) so as to compromise with the Roman pagans to please a pagan Roman Emperor, Constantine, a Worshipper of the Unconquered Sun. Why did this emperor want it changed? He wanted the Sabbath day changed to coincide with the holy day of the worshippers of the Unconquered Sun, i.e., Sunday. How and why did he bring about this God (YHWH) defying act? The reason was the Pagan emperor Constantine needed Christians to salvage his shaky empire. Constantine embraced; howbeit only on his deathbed. However, he saw Christianity as a tool he could use to firm up his shaky empire. To this opportunity for political intrigue, and happy blend of politics and people was the chief triumvirate of Roman gods Jupiter, Juno and Minerva. Jupiter was the principal deity of Roman mythology and Juno was the next highest divinity. Minerva, the "offspring of the brain of Jupiter" was regarded as the "personification of divine thought, the plan of the material universe of which Jupiter was the creator and Juno the representative" (*1). Many Pagan ideas, in fact, were incorporated into Christianity. "Christianity did not destroy paganism; it adopted it" (*2). Roman Emperor Constantine needed to make his subjects feel secure if he were to maintain control of the empire; he wanted to rule a unified empire, be it pagan and/or Christian. But first he would have to find a way to end the dispute over the divinity of Jesus-was he a man or God? So he ordered his Christian bishops to meet at Nicaea in 325 A.D. to settle the matter once and for all. To do this, "he made himself the head of the church, and thus the problems of the church became his responsibilities. As a whole the Western Empire with its Roman influence, with some exceptions, had accepted Tertullian and his new theory of the Trinity in the early part of the previous century, but in the East the church adhered more closely to the older formula of baptism in the name of Jesus, or Jesus the Christ. Especially was this true with the Armenians, who specified that baptism "into the death of Christ" was that which alone was essential (*3). This council went on for a very long time and the emperor worked behind the scene to get support for a Trinity or a Duality and to have the pagan holy day of the Unconquered Sun declared the Sabbath. This effort was not completely successful, but finally he got a majority and declared under imperial degree that this hence forth would be the central doctrinal pillar of the Christian church, which by this time was apostate. Even with this declaration by the emperor himself not all bishops signed the creed. (*4). So is was the political product of an apostate church, an apostate church that allowed a pagan Roman Emporer, Constantine, to tell it which dogma to accept at the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D., and then have it rammed down their throats as blessed dogma by another Roman Emporer, Theodosius, at the Council of Constantinople in 381 A.D. This in direct violation of God's (YHWH's) word found in the Bible " Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." (James 4:4 AV), " If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you." (John 15:19 AV). The Roman Catholic church even admits that it alone authorized the change. Note: "Today most Christians keep Sunday because it has been revealed to us by the church [Roman Catholic] outside the Bible" (*5). Also, the proceedings of the Council of Nicea of 325 AD openly declare that they have changed the Sabbath day from Saturday to Sunday. (*6). Also, Dr. Edward Hiscox, the author of 'The Baptist Manual, states, "There was and is a commandment to keep holy the Sabbath day, but that Sabbath day was NOT Sunday.....It will be said, however, and with some show of triumph, that the Sabbath was transferred from the seventh to the first day of the week...where can the record of such a transaction be found? Not in the New Testament." So we can clearly see from a Protestant source that they know the correct day of the week for the true Sabbath, but have accepted the day assigned by an apostate church, while knowing of the wrong, hook-line-and-sinker; thereby, joining and accepting the products of apostasy. Of course, we can not earn salvation through any special day. Salvation is a gift from God (YHWH) and the Son of God (YHWH), Jesus (Yeshua). He does, however, give this gift to whom he considers worthy due to their obedience, and denies it to the disobedient. The Apostle Paul brought this fact out at Hebrews 5:9, "And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;" (AV); On the other hand, he wrote, 1 Corinthians 6:9, "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulteres, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind." (AV). CONCLUSION: As can readily be seen, the apostate church on their own switched the Sabbath from the God (YHWH) appointed day of Saturday (which actually means Sabbath as can readily be ascertained if you look at that day in the Spanish language, Sabado) to Sunday (the Day of the Sun) without any authority from God (YHWH) to do so. In other words they usurped God's (YHWH's) exclusive prerogative in an extreme act of defiance and disobedience; And most of the Protestants went along with this brazen act of defiance against the rights of Almighty God (YHWH) and adopted the fruits of this defiant, disobedient act by the apostate church they claim to rail against for themselves. This shows disobedience on the part of all who accept this lie and act of defiance and disobedience. In both of these scriptures and in others the true God (YHWH) of Abraham, Isaac, and Ishmael, creator of all there is, communicated with the prophets and not his only begotten Son, Jesus (Yeshua). But let's get a better understanding by considering Hebrews 1:2, "Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;" (AV), as can be seen, this clearly shows they are two separate individuals, else appointed heir would be meaningless. Now,John 1:3-4, says, "All things came into being through Him: and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life; and the life was the light of men." (New American Standard Bible, ref. Ed. By Moody Press; NASB-MP). This brings up the question of who is this light, and how did all things come into existence through him? This 'light' is none other than Jesus (Yeshua) the first of God's (YHWH's) creation per Colossians 1:15, "and He is the image of the invisible God, the first born of Creation." (NASB-MP). So now that we know who is being spoken of at John 1:3-4, we need to know how all things came into being 'Through' him. Well his Father (YHWH) used him and gave him a portion of his spirit or active force and used Jesus (Yeshua) in the creation of everything else after he created him as testified to at Colossians 1:16-17, "For in Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things have been created through Him and for Him. 17 and He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." (NASB-MP). God (YHWH) continued to use him to carry out his works, especially in these end times as testified to at Hebrews 1:2, "in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made world." This is also testified to at 1 Corinthians 8:6, which also shows there is one Father (YHWH) from which all comes, and one Son, Jesus (YHWH) he used to create all other things 'through;' "get for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ through whom are all things, and we exist through Him." This scripture reaffirms what the Apostle John wrote at John 1:14, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (Authorized King James Bible; AV); And at John 17:5-8, "And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. 6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept my word. 7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. 8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me." Clearly we see that Jesus (Yeshua) was made flesh but had the glory or attributes of His Father (YHWH), and just before his execution that he prayed to His Father (YHWH) for his Father (YHWH) to "glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. This fact, that he lived in heaven and was the image of his Father (YHWH) was testified to at Colossians 1:15-16, "who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; 16 for in him were all things created, in the heavens and upon the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him and unto him;" (ASV); All these scriptures showing beyond doubt that He was created in the image of his Father (YHWH) and was a separate and distinct entity or being from His Father (YHWH). Whereas, many misguided ones who have been caught up in the things of the world contrary to James 4:4, "Ye adulteresses know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore would be a friend of the world maketh himself an enemy of God." (ASV). It is Christ Jesus that died, yea rather, that was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us." (ASV); And if this be so and he makes intercession for us, it would have to be with someone else, and in this case it is his Father (YHWH) as shown at 1 Timothy 2:5, "For there is one God, one mediator also between God and men, himself man, Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself a ransome for all; the testimony to be borne in its own times;" (ASV). So while some claim that these scriptures refer and many others refer to Jesus (Yeshua) in a vain attempt to make Jesus (Yeshua) Almighty God (YHWH); they do NOT refer to him and those claiming otherwise are deceiving themselves and others who listen to them in support of false doctrines and myths they love instead of the Truth of God's (YHWH's) word as recorded in the Bible. Theirs is nothing a con game of logomachy or in other words a 'rip-off' of deceit. Most of these really refer to the Biblical fact that God (YHWH) alone is eternal and uncreated; whereas, his Son, the Son of God, Jesus (Yeshua) is the first of creation as testified to at Colossians 1:15, "who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation:" or as rendered in the Catholic, Confraternity Edition of The New Testament; (CENTN), "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature." (CENTN)or in Revelation (Apocalypse) 3:14, "'And to the angel of the church at Laodicea write: Thus says the Amen, the faithful and true witness, who is the beginning of the creation of God." (CENTN). Therefore we should be on guard as directed at Titus 2:1, "But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:" (AV). So we can clearly see not all religions would be acceptable to God (YHWH) as they definitely all are not worshipping him in "spirit and in truth;" however, we must "worship him in spirit and in truth." As shown at John 4:23-24, "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (Authorized King James Bible, AV). Thus in order to be counted worthy for salvation we must be very careful to do so. APPENDIX: YHWH/JEHOVAH: The name of God . All the gods of World Religion have a name. Every single deity has a personal name. Islam worships Allah. Buddhism has various"Buddified" deities in association with Siddhartha Buddha. Hinduism has the Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva; and even Krishna as Supreme personality of godhead. In ancient times, the Egyptians directly worshiped their gods using personal names. The ancient Greek had Zeus, who later became Jupiter to the Romans, as their chief deity. The Babylonians had Nebo their god of wisdom and agriculture; and Marduk. The inhabitants of ancient Canaan worshiped Baal; who was basically their god of fertility. Without Baal's blessings, the Canaanites believed Mot - a vindictive Canaanite god, would bring disaster upon them. Zoroastrians worshiped their god Ahura Mazda. In Egyptian worship the god of the dead was Anubis and Osiris was the chief god ofthe underworld. What about the God of the Old Testament; did he have a name? The answer is yes; apart from his title of El•o•him [God], he has a personal name. El•o•him is actually a Hebrew word in plural form, used by the Bible writers to express grandeur and supreme sovereignty. In a similar manner, the monarchs of Europe apply this routine when they refer to themselves as "we" and not "I". In ancient times, there was fierce competition between gods. Indeed the God of Israel had to contend for the loyalty of the Israelites with other gods. In Canaan He had to continuously punish the Israelites who kept deviating to worshiping the aforementioned Baal. In this atmosphere, a God not having a name could not have gained fame. The Israelites knew and freely used God's personal name. In the Hebrew language, God's name is written YHWH. These four letters are commonly called the Tetragrammaton. The Bible actually encourages God's name to be in wide appropriate use - [Exodus 3:15; Proverbs 18:10; Isaiah 12:4; Zephaniah 3:9] God's personal name actually appears almost 7,000 times in the original Hebrew scriptures. Why now do we not know the correct pronunciation of God's personal name; the name of Jesus' Father? By the 1st century CE the Jews developed a superstition about God's name. Not only did they stop using God's name, but forbade its pronunciation altogether. Commentaries supplementing scriptural laws, based on explanations by rabbis came to be in writing. From these, an unscriptural book known as the Mishnah began forbidding God's name from being spoken - [Sanhedrin 10:1] This book began circulating with the Jews in the late second and early third century CE. Even today, Jews strictly forbid the uttering of the divine name. By this act of the Jews, deliberately or otherwise, the correct pronunciation of God's name seems almost lost. However, many names of people and places mentioned in the Bible contain an abbreviated form of the divine name. Using these, one can arrive at an educated guess on the proper pronunciation. The pronunciation of Biblical names have survived intact throughout the centuries. "In ancient times, parents often named their children after their deities. That means that they would have pronounced their children's names the way the deity's name was pronounced. The prophet Elijah's name is 'E_li_yah' or E_li_yah_hu in Hebrew; meaning "My God is Yahoo or Yahoo_wah." Similarly, Jehoshaphat is Yehoh_sha_phat', meaning "Yaho has judged" - the professor explains. A two-syllable pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton as "Yahweh" would not allow for the "o" vowel sound to exist as part of God's name. But in the dozens of Biblical names that incorporate the divine name, this middle vowel sound appears in both the original and shortened form; such as Jehonathan and Jonathan. Thus, Professor Buchanan says regarding the divine name: "In no case is the vowel "oo" or "oh" omitted. The word was sometimes abbreviated as "Ya", but never as "Ya_weh"...in one syllable it was "Yah" or "Yo". When it was pronounced in three syllables it would have been "Yahowah" or "Yahoowah". If it was ever abbreviated to two syllable it would have been "Yaho" - [Biblical Archaeological Review] Usually, God's name is presented as fundamental in the monotheistic religions, but its pronunciation is controversial (YeHoWaH, Yahve, Jehovah,...). However, the key to unlock this mystery was provided by the famous Maimonides 800 years ago, when he wrote that the Name of God (the tetragram YHWH) "is read as it is written". However, if the word were spelled with four letters in Moses' day, we would expect it to have had more than two syllables, for at that period there were no vowel letters. All the letters were sounded. At the end of the OT period the Elephantine papyri write the word YHW to be read either yahu (as in names like Shemayahu) or yaho (as in names like Jehozadek). The pronunciation yaho would be favored by the later Greek from iao found in Qumran Greek fragments (2d or 1stcenturies B.C.) and in Gnostic materials of the first Christian enturies.-Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament There was only one group in antiquity to pronounce the divine name similar to the popular form, 'Yahweh." And this only because Theodoret (fifth-century CE Antiochene theologioan) claimed that the Samaritans pronounced the divine name as Iahe. Also arguing for a trisyllable pronounciation is David Thomas: "It is sometimes argued that the form Jehovah is a made-up composite form which bears little resemblance to Yahweh, the presumed Hebrew pronunciation...If we accept Yitschak=Isaac without any problem, this appears to be 'straining at the gnat'.-"A Further Note on YHWH" BT 44.4(October 1993), 444-445 "In the history of the English language however, the letter J has a written counterpart in the German J, although the latter J in German is pronounced like an English Y. The bulk of theological studies having come from the German sources, there has been an intermixed usage in English of the J and the Y. Our English translations of the bible reflect this, so we have chosen to use J, thus Jehovah, rather than Yahweh, because this is established English usage for Biblical names beginning with this Hebrew letters. No one suggests that we ought to change Jacob, Joseph, Jehoshaphat, Joshua etc. to begin with a Y, and neither should we at this late date change Jehovah to Yahweh." -Bible Translator Jay P. Green, Sr. Johann David Michaelis in his German translation of the Old Testament of the eighteenth century...said in part: "On the other hand, the name Jehovah (YHWH)[Jehova in German] is used. . . . so I considered it to be a matter of integrity in translation to identify it, even though it might not always be pleasing to the German ear." ....Several of my friends insisted that I not at all insert this foreign word. . . I do not therefore see why I should not use the name Jehovah (YHWH)in the German Bible." In English, the shout of "Hallelujah" means "Praise Jah you people." The Jah comes from the one syllable Hebrew translation of the divine name to Yah. Hence, God's name in English is Jehovah; from the above Yahowah. The personal name is the causative form, the imperfect state, of the Hebrew verb ha•wah' [become]; meaning "He Causes to Become". However, if we are reasonably confident of Gods true name in its original Hebrew language, is it acceptable to use its English equivalent? Absolutely. Francis B. Denio, who studied and taught Hebrew for 40 years says: "Jehovah (YHWH) misrepresents Yahweh no more than Jeremiah misrepresents Yirmeyahu. The settled connotation of Isaiah and Jeremiah forbid questioning their right. Usage has given them the connotations proper for designating the personalities which these words represent. Much the same is true of Jehovah. It is not barbarism. It has already many of the connotations needed for the proper name of the covenant God of Israel. There is no other word which can faintly compare with it. For centuries it has been gathering these connotations. No other word approaches this name in fulness of associations required. The use of any other word falls so far short of the proper ideas that it is a serious blemish in a translation." Sprache,327), and others." So, God's name was most probably pronounced Yehowah or Yahoowah before man's traditions deemed itunutterable. Today, the name Jehovah (YHWH)is absolutely acceptable when referring to YWHW, the Almighty God of the Bible. And we can see that Jehovah's Witnesses are not the only people to recognize Jehovah (YHWH)as the proper English name for identifying the True God. Jehovah, the author of mankinds languages (Gen 11:7), has truly made His Name, His character, the kind of being that He is(One that will "prove to be" with his people) known to the most distant parts of the earth. And as he did with the gods of Egypt, Jehovah (YHWH) God will do again when he fulfills his promises, as written in his inspired words, "And I will bring myself into judgment with him, with pestilence and with blood: and a flooding downpour and hailstones, fire and sulphur I shall rain down upon him and upon his bands and upon the many peoples that will be with him. Clearly these ones are like those Jesus (Yeshua) spoke to at John 5:39, clearly as Jesus (Yeshua) said at John 5:41-43, "41 I receive not glory from men. 42 But I know you, that you have not the love of God in you. 43 I am come in the name of my Father, and you receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him you will receive." (DRCB). Clearly they do not give credit to Jesus (Yeshua) or his Father (YHWH), but to someone who comes in his own name. They overlook what Jesus (Yeshua) said at John 14:28, "You have heard that I said to you: I go away, and I come unto you. If you loved me you would indeed be glad, because I go to the Father: for the Father is greater than I." (DRCB; and at John 5:19, "Then Jesus answered and said to them: Amen, amen, I say unto you, the Son cannot do any thing of himself, but what he seeth the Father doing: for what things soever he doth, these the Son also doth in like manner." These two scriptures clearly show that the Trinity is false doctrine since Jesus (Yeshua) shows that his Father (YHWH) is the greater one and that the Son, Jesus (Yeshua) cannot do a single thing of his own initiative; hence, no co-equality here as required by the false pagan doctrine of the trinity. Also, the Beble clearly says at Matthew 12:46, "He was still speaking to the crowd when his mother and brothers appeared;" (NEB).
